BLACK AND YELLOW

Despicable me 2: Movie Review

Want to relieve your stress and have a cup of laughter and good vibes with your whole family or with your friends? This is the best movie that fits not only to you but also to everybody. Despicable me 2 and its prequel was very successful movie not only suits to all ages but also because of its cool animation, humor, lesson, effects and the most trending cute, funny, yellow group of small creatures, the minions that tickled even the adult viewers. In this sequel, the same with the first one, the hilarious and witty minions are still the center of amusement. The only difference between them is the theme and the story itself. The prequel was all about the transformation of the main villain character into a good protagonist while Despicable 2, aside from showing the adjustment period of Gru being a father to the adopted three siblings, this time his aim now is stopping evil instead of penetrating it, moreover Gru was recruited by the anti-villain agency. It still features cool gadgets and weapons like the original one. It's more thrilling than the first one because you will meet new several characters like Lucy Wilde: Gru's lover and an agent partner, Eduardo: the villain american latin guy and the evil minions who add more fun and wittiness in the film.

The main flow of the story is to find the mutating chemical compound, PX-41 that could transform things and even people into destructive machines and keeping that chemical away from getting into evil hands. Gru and and his sidekick Lucy's task is to find the person who is using the chemical and they are obliged to capture that guy. Their eagerness and enthusiasm in doing their mission become the bridge between them to fall with each other. The scenes becomes more thrilling in the part where in almost half of minions transformed into evil minions because of the unhealthy chemical that keep on spreading by the unknown villain. So with that alarming situation they need a lot of allies to fight the dark ones. All the good minions gathers and even the three siblings interfere in the mission. They become united and come up with a genius plan to conquer the evils. The whole mission is so adventurous yet witty with the help of the minions and also full of actions with betrayals and shows some touch of romance.

Though the movie shows violence and a little bit of romance it's still a healthy movie for the youngsters. The scenes are very light and the director knows how to weigh every elements in the film. There are also some part that will soften the heart of the adults, especially the scenes with Gru and his three cute adopted siblings and it teaches the young viewers a good lesson. Somehow, you may find some scenes that off to the story but like any animated films, the sole aim of this movie is to only give fun and amusement to the viewers: nothing deep, no mind blogging and not for movie critic. It's only all about appreciating small things and acts and creating joy out of trivial things.

Gold, the Color of Politics

The promises lies in Gold:

Gold is abundance and prosperity

that quench the thirst of poverty,

Gold is success and triumph

that pulls us from the mud of sorrow,

Gold is luxury and extravagance

that gives true exuberance,

Gold is wisdom and life

that gives contentment and tranquility.

But when a gold is being tested by the acid,

It reveals the counterfeit of it:

Gold is scarcity and famine

that brings sickness and hunger,

Gold is failure and disappointment

that ruins your dignity and nobility,

Gold is austerity and cheapness

that gives low quality of life,

Gold is stupidity and death

that could destroy wisdom and kill lives,

We can never rely on the promises of Gold

unless it is tested and proven real.

Muddy Orange, the Color of Vanity.

Are you a Tongue Twister?

Rick kick the stick last week
Because he has a tick

This is the first tongue twister I've made in Creative Writing class. Try to read it out loud for at least 3 times. It's fun, right? And It sounds good as well. But when we look at the meaning of it, it has no sense and it is silly. I remember Ma'am Escalada said in writing a toungue twister, it doesn't need to have a meaning and sense as long it is pleasant to the ear and have rhyming words. Like the tongue twister, in this generation, known as a"Selfie Generation", most of the teens and youths spend more time enhancing their physical features and busy worrying their outside looks to please people around them and feel good about themselves rather than improving their inner selves. Like writing a tongue twister, they find ways and do what it takes to come up with a good tongue twister: they find rhyming and good words and disregard creating sense and meaning out of it. The same in real life, they will spend their money on make-ups, plastic surgeries and etc. and little by little they starting to forget molding their character and skills. Whenever I saw teens in malls and happen to pass them by and overhear their conversation, they always talk about make-ups, fashion, celebrities, facebook, selfie pictures: it all boils down to vanity. But when you try to drop by in library and bookstores, you can count them by your fingers. And It's very alarming that it might be the start of the destruction of the moral and ethics of the youth and also the real essence of being a youth. As Dr. Jose Rizal once said, "Ang kabataan ay pag asa ng bayan". How will the youth of this generation be the hope of our country having this kind of alarming situation. Beauty will last but the soul, knowledge, influence and morality will last eternally. So don't settle for the temporary things let's build and improve ourselves they way we should be. So...

Are you a tongue twister?

Yellow, a color of hope and inspiration.

This photo was taken in CCF Center in Pasig City. (C) Google.

A man with no limbs, but has a big God.

This photo was one of my most memorable event in my life. We attended a conference with NICK Vujicic, the man without limbs at CCF center in Pasig with my lovely church mates. Nick is a Evangelist, preacher, motivational speaker and known for his deep faith in God. I'm fan of him since I have watched his inspirational videos in Youtube. He talks about his life, his views in life and perspective, how he hated himself before for having no limbs, and how he came to know Jesus in his life and change his whole life that inspired millions of people around the world. So when I heard that he will be having a conference here in the Philippines my excitement stirred up. And luckily I got my ticket free from our church, what a big blessing for me.

And my most awaited day came. While we were waiting for Nick to show up in stage, my heart was trembling and my body was shaking because of mix emotions of excitement and also because our seats was just 5 steps away from the air-conditioner. While waiting, the hosts finally came up and introduced Nick Vujicic, the people was roaring and clapping their hands while waiting for him to show up. And there he was, the whole crowd was so amazed and he received a standing ovation. I had a goose-bumps and mesmerized by him. His face was enlightened and proud despite having those bearings. By just his look on his face and composure, he can already inspire people. This is just because he has a big God.

Nick is known for his astonishing faith in God. Before, he cursed and viewed his life as nothing, useless and failure and he even committed suicide but when he came to know Jesus in his life, everything has changed. He knew that God has a purpose and has plan for him why God made him like that: and that is to touch millions of people's lives, to inspire, to share the goodness of God through his life and that is what he is doing right now.

"If a man without arms and legs is dreaming big, why can't we, why can't we all" This is one of his words that struck my heart so much. I feel embarrassed and at the same challenged because I am normal and i have a complete body but i don't dream big. I used to view myself as little and i had a low self-steam. And worse was, I didn't do something about it and let myself be like that for a long time. But now, like him when i came to Jesus in my life, not exactly everything but little by little my views and perspective in life began to change and having this conference was one of things that helped me grow as a christian.

After that conference, I concluded that we have different imperfections in life either physically or intangible things in life but it's up to us how we are going to do something out of it. And God has a purpose in everything in our life as well just be close to Him and know him more and we will have a meaningful life just like Nick Vujicic.
