Chartreuse, Color of Confidence

FACTIONLESS

I've been to different factions in our community
each factions taught me something but never fitted in
I've always tried and grabbed every opportuinty
but never won and always received chagrin
I almost gave up and went caved in
But now I'm thankful I just found myself unique
That I am just different to them but not weak

Deep Crimson, Color of Shame

UMBRELLA

The night was filled with million drops of mist
The wind wrapped me with his frozen caress
My body shook while running towards end
On my way to keep myself dry and safe
Thought I could keep myself escape from this
So let myself get soaked under the rain
No matter what the cold and pang would bring
I ran the alley as fast as i can
With his cold and rough arms wrapped around me
My body began to freeze as i ran
I eventually lost my sight and fell
I plunged to the cemented ground soundly
Got bruises and slits all 'round my body
I felt so numbed, thought I couldn't get up
With bravery I managed to stand up
I got up and learned a simple lesson
Ne'er invade the rain without umbrella

Ivory Pink to Pale Pink: Friendship to True Love

TWO POOR CATERPILLARS

Two poor caterpillars met
Became friends and seemed nothing could separate
They thought this friendship would last 'til the end
But something happened that they felt really upset

They felt a sudden change in their body
They couldn't explain and started to see nobody
Tried to escape just to see his buddy
Cant helped but to accept though it felt so unhappy

"Someday we'll see each other"
The last words they said to each other
They both lived and grew in a separate wrapper
They learned to live without seeing each other

As time went by they became mature and better
Little did they know this separation inside a wrapper
Would turned them to a beautiful creature

The time came when they about to free from the wrapper
They were so excited and looked forward to see each other
As they found one another
They were mesmerized and began to stutter

"You look beautiful" they said to each other
they now began to fly and held one another
They came to realize that they were no longer friends like before
Instead a lovers that already couldn't ask for more

Black to White

I once was lost but now I'm found
A huge transition that is so profound
The story of my life that will spin you around
A journey from a quicksand to a holy ground

I once was lost in a life of darkness
Jealousy, insecuriy and loneliness were my best friends
I tasted liquor and celebrated my wretchedness
inhale a smoke of different lips and trapped by dead ends

There was a tiny light that struck suddenly
I squinted and turned my back quickly
The light was calling me repeatedly
I answered and followed him eventually

Little did i know this little light would serve me a rope
That pulled me out of the darkness and gave me hope
I decided to follow and surrendered my life
To that light, I am healed by his strife

In his hands I learned how to live
With my whole heart I believe
By his blood I am healed
By his sweat the truth revealed

Little by little I became a new creation
Looking forward to a continous transformation
Here I am now once was lost but now I'm found
Was living in quicksand but now living in a holy ground

Deep Red, Color of Unconscious Beauty

PHOTOGRAPHY

I am fond of photography
Taking pictures is my hobby
Capturing scenes makes me happy
Nature, smiles, people in wacky
Trivial things that look unworthy
One shot reveals its real beauty
Things that are weird, odd, and silly
One zoom unveil its mystery
A naked eye can never see
The things that are beyond beauty
With the help of photography
We appreciate them perfectly
The Nature's solemnity
That gives peace to humanity
The laughter that kills misery
Special events that bonds each family
Lil' creatures, turn the dull into lively
And pretty faces that convey vanity
Captured all by a tool that is tiny
Yet reveals the different kinds of beauty

Blue, Color of Loyalty

HATCHIKO

Hatchi is a wondeful name,
That brings joy and gives us no pain.
We love her so much, we proclaim,
We are so thankful that she came.

She is brave yet easily tamed,
Keeping us safe, her only aim.
Knows how to act when we ordain,
Protects us when there is villain.

We never get tired of playing game,
She barks loudly while we exclaim.
A moment that we want to frame,
Proud to treasure without a shame.

Hatchi! Hathci! we do exclaim,
How we love to utter your name.
Though sometimes we put you on shame,
We always love you just the same.

You are more than to entertain,
You touch our heart and you'll remain.
The fun and love will be retained,
We'll never put your name in vain.

Orange, Color of Creativity.

TIRED OF WRITING A POEM IN FREE VERSE????

A lot of students even adults usually write their poetic thoughts in free verse because it's easy to construct a poem using that form. They have the freedom to express and write what's on their mind without following any structure. But how about the other forms: forms that follow certain meter and rhyming schemes etc., forms that made made Sheakesphere, Edgar Allan Poe, Alfred Tennyson famous. Why don't we try some of them? Yes, it is hard to compose and observe certain rules and structure. But folks sometimes, discipline will do bigger and greater things. So what to do we get in observing discipline in writing a poem. Let's find out. Here are some examples of forms that might sound unfamiliar to us but could help you to be a better writer or poet.

Limerick

There was a young rustic named Mallory,
who drew but a very small salary.
When he went to the show,
his purse made him go
to a seat in the uppermost gallery.
(anonymous)

This form compose of five-line anapestic(consists of two unstressed syllables followed by one stressed syllable) with a rhyme scheme of (AABBA) meaning the last words of first, second and fifth line are rhymed with each other and the third and fourth line rhyme together. This type of form is not for deep sense thoughts, it normally tends to give humor.

My own example:

She is brave yet easily tamed
Keeping us safe, her only aim.
She obeys when we ordain.
Protect us from a villain,
Hatchiko! Hatchiko! is her name

How do I made my limerick?

1. Think a specific thing( pet, person, place etc.) to be used as a subject of your limerick.
2. Express your thoughts(fun, humor, happy thoughts) about your chosen subject.
3. Observe meter, rhyming scheme and rhythm of the said form.

Tips:

1. I use Windows Word in constructing the poem so that I could also consult Windows Thesaurus in finding the exact rhyming of words that effectively lessen your hassle.

2. Always check the stresses of the words you are choosing by saying it out loud for many times and make the syllables bold if it is stressed and if it is unstressed, do nothing. And if you're using a paper a and pen, mark the stressed with check and mark the unstressed with check for indication

(WORD)

(Pen and Paper)

Another Form of Poem

Blank Verse

Furball Friend
by Anonymous

Sweet pet by day, hunter by night. She sleeps,
she eats, she plays. My feet, caught in white paws.
She’s up the fence, watching her prey - a bird.
Poor thing, better run quick, ’cause watch, she’ll pounce!
She’ll sweetly beg for fuss, but don’t be fooled.
’Cause one minute she’ll purr and smile, then snap!
She’ll spit and hiss - and oh - surprise! A mouse.
He’s dead. A gift. Retracts her claws. Miaow!
Figure of eight between my legs, looks up
at me and purrs. The sound pulls my heartstrings.
Her big blue eyes like dinner plates - so cute.
Cunning she is, she knows I can’t resist.
Curling up tight, we sleep entwined as one.
Despite her quirks, I would not change a claw
of her. Cheeky Sammy: my snow-white queen.

Blank Verse is composed of unrhymed iambic(consists of one unstressed syllable followed by stressed syllable) pentameter. For me it is more easier yet complicated than limerick because of having no rhyming scheme at the same time causes a lot of time to compose words to meet the certain meter and to meet the exact rhythm.

My example:

The night was filled with million drops of mist
The wind wrapped me with his frozen caress
My body froze while running towards end
On my way to keep myself dry and safe
Thought I could keep myself escape from this
So let myself get soaked under the rain
No matter what the cold and pang would bring
I let my fate control and drive me safe
The night grew dark and made my eyes go blind
My feet slipped off and fell on the ground
Thought I could never get up anymore
Stood up high and leave that night behind

How do I made this Blank Verse?

In doing this poem, I also considered the steps that I did in the limerick. But I have special tips in doing this form.

1. Focus on rhythm. It took a lot of time for me to finish one line because I spent time struggling in observing the rhythm.
2. You need to stock a lot of words in your mind to replace the words that is off-rhythm.
3. Recite at least 10 times each line to make sure you're in the right rhythm.

So these are just some of the forms in Poem that could help you to be a better poet or writer. How do you find those? How would you compare these forms to free verse? It's hard right? But looking on the bright side. It is more organised and also challenging that would stir up your creativity and make you go out of your comfort zone.

There you go guys! It would serve a one step towards your way to be a great poet.

Goodluck :)

Red, the Color of Love and Danger

A letter to Adam

Dear Adam,

How many times will you lure and feed me apples with your mouth? How many times will you look down on me that i only came from your ribs? How many times will you use your power over me that you created first before me? How long will you think that I am just a woman that only satisfy your pleasure and a soothe to your loneliness?

I am already worn out keeping these questions to myself. And I am now speaking my sentiments to you Adam for you to understand what I feel as a woman.Yes, I am weak, I am vulnerable and I am fragile that easy to give in, easy to break and easy to fall. But that doesn't mean you have the rights to fool me, break me and play me like one of your toy. Don't use my weaknesses to fall in your trap and don't use me as one of your instruments to pacify your pride. I already fell into your tricks for how many times. And this time I won't let your schemes fool me again. I'm already sick of your saccharine words. I already had so much honey in my stomach that almost made me puke. Please try another recipe in feeding me. Maybe it will restore my appetite again. But sad to say, it will never happen again and I won't let myself be enticed again. I've already fed myself a bushel of arugula.

I will never be the same like the woman you used to know. I will no longer be your toy or puppet that you used to play with and throw whenever you want. I will show you that i can move and dance on my own even without your string and stick manipulating me. And now I'm cutting off the strings that connect between us and give it in good hands of the real manipulator of my life: who will sew the slit in my heart and wash all the stains in my soul that caused by you. I will be revived and be alive again like the way I used to be before i met you. And being on his hands, I will build myself, I will mature, and value my worth as a woman.

One day you will find me. One day you will feel incomplete without me. One day you will realize how futile your life would be without the presence of me. And when you find and meet me again, you will be dazzled by a glittery jewel that once became an ordinary rock that you used to step on. You will be ashamed of yourself and belittled by my gleam . And you will now realize how precious and how valuable I am and you'll find me as the missing piece of your life. And if you ever ask me to be part of your life again. I'll just leave you one question. Are you worthy of precious stone? If not. See you again sometime.

Truly yours,

                                                                                       Eve

BLACK AND YELLOW

Despicable me 2: Movie Review

Want to relieve your stress and have a cup of laughter and good vibes with your whole family or with your friends? This is the best movie that fits not only to you but also to everybody. Despicable me 2 and its prequel was very successful movie not only suits to all ages but also because of its cool animation, humor, lesson, effects and the most trending cute, funny, yellow group of small creatures, the minions that tickled even the adult viewers. In this sequel, the same with the first one, the hilarious and witty minions are still the center of amusement. The only difference between them is the theme and the story itself. The prequel was all about the transformation of the main villain character into a good protagonist while Despicable 2, aside from showing the adjustment period of Gru being a father to the adopted three siblings, this time his aim now is stopping evil instead of penetrating it, moreover Gru was recruited by the anti-villain agency. It still features cool gadgets and weapons like the original one. It's more thrilling than the first one because you will meet new several characters like Lucy Wilde: Gru's lover and an agent partner, Eduardo: the villain american latin guy and the evil minions who add more fun and wittiness in the film.

The main flow of the story is to find the mutating chemical compound, PX-41 that could transform things and even people into destructive machines and keeping that chemical away from getting into evil hands. Gru and and his sidekick Lucy's task is to find the person who is using the chemical and they are obliged to capture that guy. Their eagerness and enthusiasm in doing their mission become the bridge between them to fall with each other. The scenes becomes more thrilling in the part where in almost half of minions transformed into evil minions because of the unhealthy chemical that keep on spreading by the unknown villain. So with that alarming situation they need a lot of allies to fight the dark ones. All the good minions gathers and even the three siblings interfere in the mission. They become united and come up with a genius plan to conquer the evils. The whole mission is so adventurous yet witty with the help of the minions and also full of actions with betrayals and shows some touch of romance.

Though the movie shows violence and a little bit of romance it's still a healthy movie for the youngsters. The scenes are very light and the director knows how to weigh every elements in the film. There are also some part that will soften the heart of the adults, especially the scenes with Gru and his three cute adopted siblings and it teaches the young viewers a good lesson. Somehow, you may find some scenes that off to the story but like any animated films, the sole aim of this movie is to only give fun and amusement to the viewers: nothing deep, no mind blogging and not for movie critic. It's only all about appreciating small things and acts and creating joy out of trivial things.

Gold, the Color of Politics

The promises lies in Gold:

Gold is abundance and prosperity

that quench the thirst of poverty,

Gold is success and triumph

that pulls us from the mud of sorrow,

Gold is luxury and extravagance

that gives true exuberance,

Gold is wisdom and life

that gives contentment and tranquility.

But when a gold is being tested by the acid,

It reveals the counterfeit of it:

Gold is scarcity and famine

that brings sickness and hunger,

Gold is failure and disappointment

that ruins your dignity and nobility,

Gold is austerity and cheapness

that gives low quality of life,

Gold is stupidity and death

that could destroy wisdom and kill lives,

We can never rely on the promises of Gold

unless it is tested and proven real.

Muddy Orange, the Color of Vanity.

Are you a Tongue Twister?

Rick kick the stick last week
Because he has a tick

This is the first tongue twister I've made in Creative Writing class. Try to read it out loud for at least 3 times. It's fun, right? And It sounds good as well. But when we look at the meaning of it, it has no sense and it is silly. I remember Ma'am Escalada said in writing a toungue twister, it doesn't need to have a meaning and sense as long it is pleasant to the ear and have rhyming words. Like the tongue twister, in this generation, known as a"Selfie Generation", most of the teens and youths spend more time enhancing their physical features and busy worrying their outside looks to please people around them and feel good about themselves rather than improving their inner selves. Like writing a tongue twister, they find ways and do what it takes to come up with a good tongue twister: they find rhyming and good words and disregard creating sense and meaning out of it. The same in real life, they will spend their money on make-ups, plastic surgeries and etc. and little by little they starting to forget molding their character and skills. Whenever I saw teens in malls and happen to pass them by and overhear their conversation, they always talk about make-ups, fashion, celebrities, facebook, selfie pictures: it all boils down to vanity. But when you try to drop by in library and bookstores, you can count them by your fingers. And It's very alarming that it might be the start of the destruction of the moral and ethics of the youth and also the real essence of being a youth. As Dr. Jose Rizal once said, "Ang kabataan ay pag asa ng bayan". How will the youth of this generation be the hope of our country having this kind of alarming situation. Beauty will last but the soul, knowledge, influence and morality will last eternally. So don't settle for the temporary things let's build and improve ourselves they way we should be. So...

Are you a tongue twister?

Yellow, a color of hope and inspiration.

This photo was taken in CCF Center in Pasig City. (C) Google.

A man with no limbs, but has a big God.

This photo was one of my most memorable event in my life. We attended a conference with NICK Vujicic, the man without limbs at CCF center in Pasig with my lovely church mates. Nick is a Evangelist, preacher, motivational speaker and known for his deep faith in God. I'm fan of him since I have watched his inspirational videos in Youtube. He talks about his life, his views in life and perspective, how he hated himself before for having no limbs, and how he came to know Jesus in his life and change his whole life that inspired millions of people around the world. So when I heard that he will be having a conference here in the Philippines my excitement stirred up. And luckily I got my ticket free from our church, what a big blessing for me.

And my most awaited day came. While we were waiting for Nick to show up in stage, my heart was trembling and my body was shaking because of mix emotions of excitement and also because our seats was just 5 steps away from the air-conditioner. While waiting, the hosts finally came up and introduced Nick Vujicic, the people was roaring and clapping their hands while waiting for him to show up. And there he was, the whole crowd was so amazed and he received a standing ovation. I had a goose-bumps and mesmerized by him. His face was enlightened and proud despite having those bearings. By just his look on his face and composure, he can already inspire people. This is just because he has a big God.

Nick is known for his astonishing faith in God. Before, he cursed and viewed his life as nothing, useless and failure and he even committed suicide but when he came to know Jesus in his life, everything has changed. He knew that God has a purpose and has plan for him why God made him like that: and that is to touch millions of people's lives, to inspire, to share the goodness of God through his life and that is what he is doing right now.

"If a man without arms and legs is dreaming big, why can't we, why can't we all" This is one of his words that struck my heart so much. I feel embarrassed and at the same challenged because I am normal and i have a complete body but i don't dream big. I used to view myself as little and i had a low self-steam. And worse was, I didn't do something about it and let myself be like that for a long time. But now, like him when i came to Jesus in my life, not exactly everything but little by little my views and perspective in life began to change and having this conference was one of things that helped me grow as a christian.

After that conference, I concluded that we have different imperfections in life either physically or intangible things in life but it's up to us how we are going to do something out of it. And God has a purpose in everything in our life as well just be close to Him and know him more and we will have a meaningful life just like Nick Vujicic.

PURPLE!

Composing a song

In psychology, purple is the color of imagination and creativity. Composing a song involves imagination and inventiveness to create your own music. A song also serves as a therapy to our troubled souls, one way of communicating through sounds and lyrics. It is also an art of expression that is appreciated up to now. And now i will teach you and give you some of my tips in doing it. By the way this is my favorite hobby creating music and lyrics especially when i'm inspired and also when I'm depressed. Which goes to step number one.

1. Compose a song when you're either inspired or depressed. Because emotions will serve as the motivation and give us urge to express our thoughts. Tip: don't compose song when you are angry. You will just waste lots of papers or pages in your notebook. Trust me.
2. Choose a theme for your song. This will serve the back bone and the starting point in creating the lyrics of the song.
3. Choose a person/event/situation that you want to discuss in the song. You need to have a subject for you to discuss in the song. Without a subject you will just waste your time in finding the right words to write.
4. Create rhythm that suits your mood. Use any instruments for you to create the rhythm easily and if you don't how to play any, ask for someone who knows how to play any instruments to help you.
5. Observe rhyming of words (optional) to make it more pleasing to the listeners. The song is more appealing if they have rhyming words.Trust me.
6. Put foods beside you. Writing songs will make you hungry especially when you are in the midst of hunting the right words in the last stanza. Make sure you're tummy is always full because if not good luck to your song.

Last tip: Compose a song in the place where you can isolate yourself from others (Nature!!!). Because you probably will look like a fool to them: looking at the ceiling while humming, smiling alone, crying and etc. See?

There you go! Check the song below as an example. I wrote this song to my high school best friend as present for his birthday five years ago. This song talks about friendship that we had in high school and his humbleness in spite of his achievements and success that he have right now. And as his best friend I'm so proud of him. :)

Star

By: Me

Everyday was always been a lucky day
you and I always made each other smile
saying Hey! I want to be a star someday
making songs singing our favorite song
Playing now, Miley or Bieber song
"What's wrong?" It's we
"We are singing along"

Refrain:
But the time came, that we need to go on separate ways
And now I'm proud to say

Chorus:

Even you're a star now
You could still know how
to find ways back here in this place
Even you're a star now
you could still know how
to be here here in the land where i stand
I will always be waiting
For the night to come
To watch you shining
brighter among the stars

"Hey hey, I want kikiam everyday"
You say "Chicken Nuggets I will pay"
What will they say?
"I'm already full anyway"
Sit back relax
I know you know it sucks
talking again again and again
Again we say
"I want to be a star someday"

Bridge:

Party in the USA
Butterflies fly away
Imma tell you one time

Repeat
Refrain and Chorus
2X

BROWN!

Cocoon love: MU

As we all know Red is the universal color for love. But now I will introduce to you a new color of love, the brown. Why color brown? I just simply get it from the typical color of a cocoon. So what is "cocoon love" by the way? Let us first define what a cocoon is. Cocoon is the life stage of an insect normally (caterpillar transforming to a butterfly) that undergoes on transformation. In other words it’s not yet fully developed. In relation to love, cocoon love in other words is immature love. And sadly many people are experiencing cocoon love. They fall in love in a wrong time and in a wrong attitude. One of example and most famous to teens today is MU. Why MU? MU is a cocoon love. It is a love between two persons that are immature. Why immature? Because they are the ones who don’t want to take responsibilities and get in a commitment. They are afraid to address their feelings for each other because they don’t want to get hurt: playing safe in other words. They always hide in their cocoons. They just want to enjoy each other without admitting that they love each other, they just rely on feelings. And love without commitment is just pleasure. It’s like buying a product without a brand: you feel happy at first because it’s affordable and catchy but it cannot be trusted, low quality and most likely won’t last long. Like in MU it causes confusion on both party that most likely ended up in frustration and destruction. So how are you going to avoid this kind of love. The answer is simple: waiting. You just have to wait to be fully developed and to be matured like a cocoon transforming into butterfly: when you know that you are already mature: ready to take responsibilities and commitment, that’s the right time. And surely your relationship will grow, will be colorful and you will have love that is free like a flying butterfly that takes you to different places, aspects and views in life which is very far from a cocoon.

BLACK!

Victory in Darkness
By: Mariel Fernando

My life was in darkness
My innocent eyes was blinded
The past that really marked
my life that supposed to be enlightened

I'd been to many places
that I'd never heard of before
Each place brought me down into grave
Deep as a well with no water

Instead of anguish after what happened
I felt victory with the bruises I'd got
Instead of feeling ashamed
Here I am standing, proud of my scars!
