PURPLE!

Composing a song

In psychology, purple is the color of imagination and creativity. Composing a song involves imagination and inventiveness to create your own music. A song also serves as a therapy to our troubled souls, one way of communicating through sounds and lyrics. It is also an art of expression that is appreciated up to now. And now i will teach you and give you some of my tips in doing it. By the way this is my favorite hobby creating music and lyrics especially when i'm inspired and also when I'm depressed. Which goes to step number one.

1. Compose a song when you're either inspired or depressed. Because emotions will serve as the motivation and give us urge to express our thoughts. Tip: don't compose song when you are angry. You will just waste lots of papers or pages in your notebook. Trust me.
2. Choose a theme for your song. This will serve the back bone and the starting point in creating the lyrics of the song.
3. Choose a person/event/situation that you want to discuss in the song. You need to have a subject for you to discuss in the song. Without a subject you will just waste your time in finding the right words to write.
4. Create rhythm that suits your mood. Use any instruments for you to create the rhythm easily and if you don't how to play any, ask for someone who knows how to play any instruments to help you.
5. Observe rhyming of words (optional) to make it more pleasing to the listeners. The song is more appealing if they have rhyming words.Trust me.
6. Put foods beside you. Writing songs will make you hungry especially when you are in the midst of hunting the right words in the last stanza. Make sure you're tummy is always full because if not good luck to your song.

Last tip: Compose a song in the place where you can isolate yourself from others (Nature!!!). Because you probably will look like a fool to them: looking at the ceiling while humming, smiling alone, crying and etc. See?

There you go! Check the song below as an example. I wrote this song to my high school best friend as present for his birthday five years ago. This song talks about friendship that we had in high school and his humbleness in spite of his achievements and success that he have right now. And as his best friend I'm so proud of him. :)

Star

By: Me

Everyday was always been a lucky day
you and I always made each other smile
saying Hey! I want to be a star someday
making songs singing our favorite song
Playing now, Miley or Bieber song
"What's wrong?" It's we
"We are singing along"

Refrain:
But the time came, that we need to go on separate ways
And now I'm proud to say

Chorus:

Even you're a star now
You could still know how
to find ways back here in this place
Even you're a star now
you could still know how
to be here here in the land where i stand
I will always be waiting
For the night to come
To watch you shining
brighter among the stars

"Hey hey, I want kikiam everyday"
You say "Chicken Nuggets I will pay"
What will they say?
"I'm already full anyway"
Sit back relax
I know you know it sucks
talking again again and again
Again we say
"I want to be a star someday"

Bridge:

Party in the USA
Butterflies fly away
Imma tell you one time

Repeat
Refrain and Chorus
2X
